Installation #20 - Ciarán Ó Dochartaigh - speculative massage tools for a family of Donkeys

speculative massage tools for a family of Donkeys

Installation #20 - 30 April 2019

Current research extends into mixed media works, sculptural installations, and sound works, stories through critical writing and speculative fiction. This includes collaborations often with ‘companion species’ while investigating the (post) human condition. A provocation to circumnavigate conditioning and post-trauma in relation to the political vacuum left by postcolonialism in the context of Irish society. Recent research hopes to raise discussions of care and kinship, through LARPs (Live Action Role Plays) while working with a horse whisperer to address intergenerational or inherited trauma.

A horizontal plane designed to display an analogue and digital network mapping system.    Speculative equine massage tools will host and contain hand-thrown ceramics, wood turned tools and auto message objects, Infrastructural support.  The work will feature a cadaver dog and their companion as well as digital documentation of a drawing produced by an Irish ex-political prisoner during incarceration.
